The eSIM

The one on your line: how the QR installs, why it works only once, and whether your phone can take it.

01

The eSIM of your line

Today the lines you take with us come with a physical SIM: we give you the card, and we do not offer the eSIM for your line yet.

02

The QR and how to install it

The QR arrives at the e-mail address you gave us. Open it on a computer or on another phone: you have to be able to scan it with the handset the eSIM will live on, and a phone cannot scan itself.

  1. Open the e-mail with the QR on a screen that is not the phone you are installing it on.
  2. On iPhone: Settings → Mobile data → Add eSIM → Use QR code. On Android: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM.
  3. Give the line a name (“Trip”, “Don Rayo”) so you can recognise it later on the mobile data screen.
03

The QR works once

IT IS SCANNED ONCE

The QR code is good for one installation and then stops working. If you change handset, reset it, or delete the eSIM from the phone, that code will not put it back.

So: do not delete the e-mail, and if you are about to change phone, write to us before you touch anything. Sorting it out beforehand is a two-minute conversation; afterwards it depends on what was deleted.

04

Will my phone work?

You need an eSIM-capable, unlocked phone. If it is locked to another operator the QR will scan, but the line will not come up.

As a guide: iPhone XS or newer, Samsung S20 onwards, Pixel 3 onwards. Outside that list some models work and some do not, and the handset itself will tell you: if the mobile data settings offer “Add eSIM”, it works.

05

If something gets stuck

Write to us on WhatsApp with a screenshot of the phone’s mobile data screen. That picture shows whether the line is active, whether roaming is on and which network it picked up, which is most of the diagnosis.

WhatsApp, the phone number and the e-mail address are all on the support page. Don Rayo answers.
